Energy Risk Analyst

Reporting to the Vice President of Risk Management, the Energy Risk Analyst is responsible for providing risk assessment and support to the company's retail electric sales efforts. The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth knowledge of the energy industry and have a strong and progressive experience in risk analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management & Support — Responsible for management, operation and enhancement of systems that monitor company's credit and commodity risks. Work with procurement analysts to provide risk support (stress-testing, greeks, position limits) for retail portfolio.

Analysis — Perform end-of-day reporting and risk analysis for the company's retail portfolio, Net Open Position, P&L, and VaR. Provide analytical explanation of daily reports.

Deal Data Maintenance — Maintain the deal capture system and ensure all deals are accurately recorded and documented.

Influence Strategy — Develop appropriate analytic models and pricing strategies for marketing campaigns, quotes for large accounts or aggregated groups, and new pricing structures driven by customer feedback or market research analysis.

Deliver In-house Expertise— Serve as risk consultant with other segments of the organization including procurement, pricing, sales and marketing, billing, and information systems.

Market Intelligence — Maintain current knowledge, insight and understanding regarding current market trends relative to pricing of electric supply. Understanding of market fundamentals across MISO, PJM and other RTO's.

Reporting & Monitoring — Monitor, estimate and forecast counterparty, RTO and LDC credit exposure. Calculate mark to market, and credit requirement rules, verify and confirm the amount of credit required by various counterparties and monitor margining activities. Provide ongoing and regular feedback regarding key opportunities and challenges.

Qualifications & Attributes

Energy Experience — 5 or more years in the energy industry.

Analytical Skills — Advanced analytical and quantitative thinking skills, concentration and acute attention to detail.

Relationship Builder—Excellent interpersonal skills; strong individual contributor with consultative style. Skilled at working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary functions and departments.

Technology Fluency — Interact with IT to resolve system and application issues in a timely manner, and to contribute to development of new system applications/process improvements.

Results Orientation — Proactive problem solving ability with a solutions-oriented attitude. Focus on results with an ability to manage frequently changing priorities and stress in a professional and productive manner.

Superior Communications — Exemplary verbal, written, and presentation skills along with excellent interpersonal skills.

Education — B.S. Degree in economics, finance, statistics, or math.
